Anthony .D.J Dingley

Tony has lived on the islands for over forty years and was the first established estate agent on the Isles of Scilly, founding Island Properties in 1989

He left school and started his career in the property business working for T.Leslie Tibbetts & Co., a firm of chartered auctioneers, surveyors and estate agents in Cradley Heath, West Midlands. He then worked for Walton & Hipkiss with offices in Stourbridge and Kidderminster and subsequently formed his own estate agency practising under the name of A. Dingley Round & Co. in Hagley where he included a draughtsman office with that of surveying and estate agency.

He has always been interested in properties together with their potential and with his previous planning experience can visualise improvements to most properties.

He moved to St. Mary’s in 1979 and purchased a the guest house Seaview Moorings where he still lives. He realised there was an opening for an estate agency after being a representative on the islands for a mainland agent for a few years. So Island Properties was formed which he successfully ran as the largest estate agency and holiday letting business on St. Mary’s.

The businesses grew with demand and the holiday letting expanded to own its own laundry (Scilly Linen Supplies) and property maintenance department. In 2011 he sold the management business with the laundry to Scilly Self Catering who have have since successfully continued the businesses to this day. Tony concentrated on the estate agency and pulled back from the faster pace of management.
